Products and Services

BULCAN ARTE, counts with a large team specialized in vertical works for the stabilization and conditioning of any type of slope. For this, we also have Public Works and Mining Engineers, to give our clients the best solution to the different areas in which we have to act.

We also have all the necessary machinery to carry out such work, whether drilling, gunning equipment, injectors, compressors, CTA, etc., being able to act immediately and solve the different problems of each slope.

Among our clients, there are the main builders of the archipelago, as well as the insular governments, town halls and private clients. If you are interested in making a budget and visit the space of action, do not hesitate to contact us, we will attend you immediately, without any kind of engagement on your part.

Slope restructure

The manual restructure is an action prior to the execution of any type of reconditioning of the slopes. It is necessary to eliminate all those elements that are unstable both in the top and in the rest of the slope, whether in the form of rocks or vegetation, to later install the triple torsion mesh, the cable network, the screens, or for the concrete projection of. To develop this activity, our specialized vertical staff uses several cleaning techniques, until we obtain an optimal ground for the next phase.

Themed slopes

The containment of a slope, should not be an element that simply forced to spread concrete on natural slopes with the consequent visual impact.

BULCAN ARTE offers as an added value, the possibility of recreating any type of theming, whether in the form of rocky volumes, stonewall walls or any other type of mimicry at the space where the action is needed, combining between the need for prevention and security, with the aesthetics of the slope.

Triple Torsion mesh installation

There are several types of triple torsion mesh and according to the slope or the need of each customer are used one or more, using more often of 2.7 mm and those of 2 mm. The mesh used by our company, complies with the European standards, and has an alloy that makes it very resistant to the corrosion. We deliver the warranty certificate issued by the manufacturer.

The system of hanging or guided mesh is the most common and the most inexpensive, since this system is only anchored in the top of the slope by steel bars introduced in the top every 2 or 3 meters, where a wire rope passes by and in which the mesh is anchored.
Afterwards it is sewn between the flaws, and finally it is anchored in the lower part of the ground with another wire cable, leaving about 50 cm from the ground to facilitate the maintenance works.

The reinforced mesh is a system that is used when due to the characteristics of the slope, requires a higher strength to avoid breaking and better distribution of loads throughout the system surface. To get this, it is placed steel bolts with cement injected, both in the top and in the rest of the slope making grids. Subsequently a distribution plate is placed on each bolt, and by these anchors a steel wire is extended, sewing each of the anchors vertically, horizontally and diagonally, and fixed at the extremes with cable ties.

Steel wire installation

To install a network of steel cables, is carried out when the typology of the ground and possible unstable blocks, we must ensure the whole set with a system that is able to withstand the impetus of the ground.

The network consists of an interweaving of galvanized steel wires of 8 mm diameter, rhombus between 150 and 300 mm, as determined by the previous study, this being able to withstand earth pressures up to 40 kN / m2. The dimensions of the most usual cloths are 3×3, 6×3, 6×4, etc. This is placed on a triple-torsion mesh of the type 8 × 10-16 (thickness of the wire of 2.7 mm) to restrain small stones, and is attached directly on the surface of the slope. The netting is joined horizontally and vertically by 16 mm steel cables. The net is anchored to the ground by GEWI self-tapping steel bars, or similar, with a diameter of 25 mm and between 3 and 6 meters of length, anchored by grout injection of cement.

Perforations, bolts and anchors to the slope

Any system of installation of meshes or networks of cables, must carry an anchorage to the ground according to the need of each slope.

The type of anchor is wide and varies both the thickness of the steel bar starting from 25 mm, and the depth of the bar that goes from 2 meters onwards.

The placement of a bolt consists of drilling in the most optimal parts of the ground, with self-drilling rod in most of the cases, and then filling the holes with grout cement until we get a good support to the rocky ground.

The next step is to place to these bars, a partition plate and a nut, after anchoring the chosen clamping system, either with a reinforced mesh, wire netting, or the two together.

Drainages

The purpose of the drainage is to evacuate the pressure of the aquifers in order to avoid possible rotational landslides of the different terrain plates.

The interstitial pressures are the main causes of landslide, and it is in these cases, where drainage is mainly recommended.

This system consists of drilling different depths in the slope, and then placing a porous or grooved pipe with meshes, which can be both pvc and metallic.

There is also the possibility, of connecting the drains to a system of water return, to avoid the external erosion due to the flow of the water by the slope, besides the possibility of the use of the spring water, to use it in crops for example.

Installing dynamic and static screens

The dynamic screens are aimed to stop the possible detachments of rocks or other elements in mass, since they are characterized by their great capacity of absorption of impacts, dissipating most of the kinetic energy provoked by the element to stop.

On the other hand, the screens or static barriers are more limited, since they are meant to be rigid, they have less power of absorption of energy. This solution is more inexpensive than the dynamics, although for the installation, it is necessary to make a preliminary study of the area of action to develop both in height and anchors and dimensions, based on potential elements to retain.

They are usually constructed by placing IPN posts anchored to the ground, of different heights and partings, to which a network of steel cables and triple torsion mesh are placed. The whole system is also reinforced by steel wires and bolts.

Projected concrete (humid way). Gunning

The humid concrete projection system is the most optimum to obtain a good mix of the materials, as it is dosed directly into the concrete platform with the desired precision and even it is used a higher quality concrete.

Once on site, it is projected with our high-pressure gunning equipment, which are able to carry the material to the heights that the slope requires.

The difference with the dry gunning is that in this system, the components without water, are transported pneumatically through the hose to the projection mouth, where water is added just before reaching the slope, with the consequent low quality of the kneaded. On the other hand, this system generates a lot of dust in suspension, and cannot be used anywhere.
